Mutual support, for generations — rebuilt for today

Mutual support you can actually understand and trust

Three support plans — JoblessCare, MediCare and ElderCare — individually or combined. Members and their employers pay small, predictable voluntary contributions into a shared fund. When a member needs support, the board reviews each case personally, assisted by a transparent AI recommendation. No assembly-line decisions, no hidden exclusions.

Our support plans

Three plans, one enrollment

You choose which plans apply to you when you join — individually or combined. Enrollment is a single form: fill it in, view the Richtlinien and the membership declaration, submit. No printing, no post, no back-and-forth by email.

JoblessCare

Support in cases of unemployment through no fault of one's own, incapacity for work, and death (§ 4 of the Richtlinien).

  • a ceiling of up to €400 per month
  • at most 12 months per case
  • at the earliest after a 2-month waiting period
  • at the earliest after 6 months of membership

What this plan is not

Not unemployment insurance. JoblessCare replaces neither the AMS unemployment benefit nor any other insured benefit; support may come in addition to it, and the board decides each case individually.

Discretionary benefit — no legal entitlement (§ 10).

MediCare

Discretionary healthcare subsidies across nine benefit types, capped at €1,000 per year (§ 11 of the Richtlinien).

  • annual ceiling €1,000
  • at the earliest after a 2-month waiting period
  • at the earliest after 6 months of membership

What this plan is not

Not health insurance. MediCare does not take the place of Austria's statutory health insurance or of private supplementary cover, and it meets no treatment cost under a contract; what is granted are subsidies at the board's discretion.

Discretionary benefit — no legal entitlement (§ 10).

ElderCare

Support where the member themselves needs care, evidenced by a statutory Pflegegeld decision of levels I-VII (§ 2 no. 3 of the Richtlinien).

  • a ceiling of up to €400 per month
  • at most 12 months per case
  • at the earliest after a 2-month waiting period
  • at the earliest after 6 months of membership

What this plan is not

Not a pension, not retirement provision, not a deposit. ElderCare supports members who come to need care themselves through age or illness (statutory Pflegegeld, levels I–VII). It is about care and illness, not about retirement: no capital is accumulated, nothing earns interest, contributions are not repaid, and no balance arises that anyone could draw on.

Discretionary benefit — no legal entitlement (§ 10).

Every amount shown is a maximum granted at the board's sole discretion. There is no legal entitlement to any benefit (§ 10 of the Richtlinien).

Who is ÖUK for?

For employees

A small monthly voluntary contribution connects you to a community that steps in when it matters — explainable, with no fine print.

  • Join alone or together with your employer
  • Apply for support in minutes, right from your phone
  • Every decision is signed and justified by a named person
  • Full visibility into your voluntary contribution history, any time

For employers

A simple, low-cost way to show real care for your team — without the administrative overhead of a traditional benefits scheme.

  • Set up in minutes, for any number of employees
  • You choose the voluntary contribution: employee-only, employer-only, or split evenly
  • One console to manage your whole workforce
  • No lock-in to a fixed contribution amount — adjust any time

Three ways to join

All three models grant the same full membership.

Employee only

€25 / month

You pay alone, independent of your employer.

Employer only

€25 / month

Your employer covers the voluntary contribution for you in full.

Both together

€50 / month

Employer and employee each pay €25 — more impact together.

On top of the monthly voluntary contribution, a top-up payment is possible at any time.

How support actually works

Five steps, one principle: people decide, not a formula.

  1. 1

    Join

You or your employer choose a voluntary contribution model and set up payment.

  2. 2

    Contribute

Small, predictable voluntary contributions build your membership and contribution record.

  3. 3

    Apply

For job loss, illness, or a bereavement, submit a request with supporting documents.

  4. 4

    AI triage

An AI scores the case and produces a non-binding recommendation — with a clear explanation.

  5. 5

    Board decision

A board member makes the actual decision, in writing, with a documented rationale.

Why this isn't insurance

ÖUK is not an insurer and doesn't sell guaranteed benefits. It's a classic mutual support fund: benefits are granted entirely at the board's discretion, with no legal entitlement to a specific payout. That's exactly what protects against the mechanisms that make insurance opaque — risk underwriting, exclusion clauses, automated denials. Here, a person always decides, and you always find out why.

  • No risk underwriting, no health questions to join
  • Every decision carries a name and a written rationale
  • An immutable record of every decision — available for review
  • The AI recommends, it never decides
