Our support plans
JoblessCare, MediCare and ElderCare
Three plans, one enrollment. You choose which apply to you when you join — individually or combined. Every figure comes from the fund's Richtlinien, and the section reference is given for each plan.
JoblessCare
Support in cases of unemployment through no fault of one's own, incapacity for work, and death (§ 4 of the Richtlinien).
Terms
- a ceiling of up to €400 per month
- at most 12 months per case
- at the earliest after a 2-month waiting period
- at the earliest after 6 months of membership
What this plan is not
Not unemployment insurance. JoblessCare replaces neither the AMS unemployment benefit nor any other insured benefit; support may come in addition to it, and the board decides each case individually.
Discretionary benefit — no legal entitlement (§ 10).
MediCare
Discretionary healthcare subsidies across nine benefit types, capped at €1,000 per year (§ 11 of the Richtlinien).
Terms
- annual ceiling €1,000
- at the earliest after a 2-month waiting period
- at the earliest after 6 months of membership
What this plan is not
Not health insurance. MediCare does not take the place of Austria's statutory health insurance or of private supplementary cover, and it meets no treatment cost under a contract; what is granted are subsidies at the board's discretion.
Discretionary benefit — no legal entitlement (§ 10).
ElderCare
Support where the member themselves needs care, evidenced by a statutory Pflegegeld decision of levels I-VII (§ 2 no. 3 of the Richtlinien).
Terms
- a ceiling of up to €400 per month
- at most 12 months per case
- at the earliest after a 2-month waiting period
- at the earliest after 6 months of membership
What this plan is not
Not a pension, not retirement provision, not a deposit. ElderCare supports members who come to need care themselves through age or illness (statutory Pflegegeld, levels I–VII). It is about care and illness, not about retirement: no capital is accumulated, nothing earns interest, contributions are not repaid, and no balance arises that anyone could draw on.
Discretionary benefit — no legal entitlement (§ 10).
How the voluntary contribution and the support fit together
The monthly voluntary contribution is €25 on the base model. A higher contribution is possible; the amount of any support is set by the board in every case. A higher contribution creates no claim to greater support. Employer-funded under § 26 (7) EStG or private — both lead to the same membership.
No legal entitlement — and why that is the point
ÖUK is not an insurer. Every amount named is a maximum granted at the board's sole discretion; there is no legal entitlement (§ 10 of the Richtlinien). That is exactly what protects against risk underwriting, exclusion clauses and automated denials: a person always decides, in writing.
